The domestic pickup truck market sees sales of about 400,000 units each year, but on the whole, products tend to be outdated and fail to satisfy consumers. Against such a backdrop, SAIC Maxus rolled out the “epoch-making”T60.
At the Guanghzou auto show in 2016, Maxus debuted T60 and unveiled its price range – between 99,800 and 199,800 yuan. On Dec 21, when Maxus brought marketing partners together in Boao, Hainan province, it unveiled detailed prices of the T60 lineup.

Participants to the meeting also had a close-up view of the new pickup.
Fancy look, intelligent interconnection
Catering to the needs of the younger generation, T60 is fancier compared to its predecessors and also has a more concise and reasonable interior design. It has a large LCD screen equipped with the YunOS system jointly developed by SAIC and Alibaba Group, offering users intelligent solutions in car management, internet connection, remote control and voice recognition. Also, for the first time the PEPS system has been applied to a pickup, providing convenience to users who need to load and unload cargo or open and shut the doors frequently.
Outstanding performance
T60 has outstanding aerodynamic performance thanks to its VM 2.8T diesel engine from Italy. The engine can deliver a maximum power of 110 kW and peak torque of 360 Nm, helping consumers cope with various arduous tasks with ease.
Also, T60 has a 6AT gearbox, helping it better handle bends in the road and change of speeds.
T60 offers a trio of diving modes Normal/Eco/Power, which better copes with various needs of users. When the pickup has a light load or is running on smooth roads, the Eco mode is more fuel efficient. When the vehicle is traveling on rough roads or off road or transporting more cargo, the Power mode is more capable.
Safety first
Safety performance has been increasingly prioritized by car buyers these days, and T60 is impressive in this respect.
T60 has been designed in accordance with the A-NCAP five-star crash safety standard. Thermoforming has been applied, the first time such a technique ever used in pickup making, and laser beam welding also helps improve the strength of the body. The pickup has six airbags and provides users with all-round safety protection.
In addition, T60 has comprehensive and advanced intelligent active safety systems.
To better cope with traveling on mountainous roads at night, T60 has adopted AFS-backed LED headlights for the first time. The AFS can automatically adjust the angle of illumination on the road from headlights according to the turns made by the vehicle to ensure a broader illuminated area when it is running at night.
Besides, T60 has adopted the BOSCH ESP 9.0 system to bring improved stability under rough conditions. Other measures, including the 360-degree panoramic camera, lane departure warning and driver drowsiness detection systems, have also been used to offer comprehensive safety protection.
The C2B concept is also applied to the T60 lineup to meet users’ personalized needs. With all its advantages, T60 will lead the pickup market toward higher-end growth, which will benefit both businesses and users.
